2016 was an incredible year. Here's the thing about being a story teller; in order to tell others what it felt like to be in a space, you have to feel it yourself. That means that I felt and experienced so many things this past year as you all invited me into your sacred spaces, into your stories. It was such an honor.
2016 was a year for babies and I couldn't be more excited about this. I discovered a few years ago that attending births made me come ALIVE and that meant it was part of what I was called to do in this life. Only birth photography was just starting to pick up steam world wide and hadn't really caught on in our area. So I started to hustle. I advertised, I networked, I worked for next to nothing to gain experience because I knew this was what I wanted to do. in 2016 I started to see my work pay off and it felt so good. Being a birth photographer is hands down some of the hardest work I've ever done but it is by far the most rewarding. I'm excited about the number of births Blue Muse has booked for 2017, I'm excited to have an awesome back up photographer who just finished up her first birth ALL ON HER OWN this morning, and I'm excited about SO MANY BABY snuggles coming our way.
But mostly I'm excited about getting to bear witness to so much strength and grace this year as we watch mama's bring their babies here.
This past year I have been so excited for the chance to work for Hutchinson Magazine. It has been such a blast getting to step out of my typical work and help tell stories in a different way.
Editorial work is another way that I have really found myself come alive and I'm excited in 2017 to work on expanding this genre in several ways.
Most of all, I wanted to pop on here and say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for everything you've helped me be a part of this year. I'm so excited to see what 2017 holds and I'm so honored to be a part of this community.
From our family to yours, all the best and most beautiful 2017.
